5.56 chambers are a tad longer than .223 chambers (as is the ammo). That is essentially why you can shoot .223 out of a 5.56 chamber but not vise-versa. There is more to it than that really, but that is the basics. .223 ammo has some freebore before it hits the rifling, so that can be why the 5.56 ammo is more consistant. However, the .223 Wylde barrel will shoot .223 Remington with better accuracy than a barrel chambered in 5.56mm NATO, but can also withstand the pressure load of 5.56mm NATO. The popularity of .223 Wylde chambered barrels as somewhat of a "hybrid" chamber has grown in the past years, bringing the price point of the .223 Wylde down to that of the common 5.56mm NATO barrel.
The.223/5.56 20-inch 1:9 twist barrel didn't particularly like the 55-grain FMJs, printing an average of 1.7-inch five-round groups at 100 yards from bags. That was likely the round. The accuracy kept improving as I fired, especially with the heavier rounds.

A 5.56 chamber has different throat dimensions. Some of my most accurate handloads shot from 5.56 or Wylde chambers are purposefully loaded at lower .223 pressures. My most accurate (sub 1/2 MOA) 100 yard benchrest target load is even lower than standard .223 velocity. In short, the answer to OP's question is no.Usd aeon 60 skates.
This Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II is a high-quality AR15 with the ability to fire both .223 and 5.56 NATO rounds, making it worth every cent. To test their own reliability, Smith & Wesson had two of their M&P15 Sport II AR15s fire 160,000 rounds to ensure that they would still be fully functional after so many shots.
